Performances of works by Freidlin and Chiti

Among the many performances of Musik Fabrik works this, Jan Freidlin's "MonoOpera" for solo violin was performed by G. Gurevich at Beit - Barbur in Tel Aviv on March 13, 2010 .

On March 25th, the Trio A.Do.Re performed Gian Paolo Chiti's Kinamama for two flutes and piano at the State Library of Nova Gorica in Slovenia.

Performances this week of works by Brenet, Cooman and Freidlin

Works by three Musik Fabrik composers will be performed this week around the World.

On Sunday, January 10th, 2010 at 3:00 P.M. Mezzo-soprano Katherine Ciesinski and pianist Raj Birmani will present the World Première of Thérèse Brenet's Perles d'ambre in the version for female voice and piano. The concert is at the Tenri Cultural Institute New York, New York, USA, at 3:00 PM (more information at www.leschetizky.org ) The concert also features works by Fauré, Duparc, Roussel, Ravel, Hoiby and Hundley with Peter Van Derick, baritone.

After the world première of Carson Cooman's Piano Quartet on the 9th by the Arcturus Chamber Ensemble (Sarah Darling, artistic director) at Carlisle, MA USA, the program will be repeated on Sunday, January 10th at the Pusey Room, Memorial Church of Harvard University, One Harvard Yard, Cambridge, MA USA at 4:00 PM.

On Friday, January 15th, Cooman's song cycle on poetry of Katherine Gekker Chasing the Moon Down will be premièred by Gail Collins, mezzo-soprano, Chris Gekker, trumpet, Stephen Brown, piano, at the Friday Morning Music Club Series, Washington, D.C.

Again, on Friday, January 15th, Jan Freidlin's work for solo violin, MonoOpera will be performed by Gennady Gurevich, Violin at at Beit Ticho ( Jerusalem), Israel at 11:00 A.M.

New from Jan Freidlin: works for two piano and piano with orchestra

We have just published a series of works by Jan Freidlin, which include Joyful Concertino for two pianos (useful for teaching as the first piano is less difficult than the second piano) as well as Contemplation for piano and string orchestra or two pianos. A performance of the work with orchestra is available on youtube :



Also the third movement of the Suite Tricolore Night Seine Blues has been arranged for solo instrument and piano, with many possible instruments (flute, saxophone, clarinet, violin, trumpet, etc). Here is a jazz performance of the work, with the composer at the piano :

New works by Jan Freidlin for the Violoncello

Three new works featuring the violoncello by the Israeli composer Jan Freidlin have just been published by Musik Fabrik. Many of these works are inspired by the Israeli cellist M. Haran, who has premièred many of Freidlin's compositions. The works include:

From the past... for solo violoncello

Rainy Day Rhapsody for violoncello and piano

Two Snakes' Dance for violoncello and contrabass.

In preparation are two larger works for flute and violoncello, which will be published in the next few days.

New recordings for David W. Solomons, Jan Freidlin and Carson Cooman

Three Musik Fabrik composers have had new recordings issued this month:

The Duo Musaikón(Davide Compostella (clarinet) and Alessandro Balsimini (guitar)) has released a wonderful CD on the Phoenix classics label with two Musik Fabrik works: David Solomons' Petticoat Lane for Clarinet and guitar, and Jan Freidlin's Tenderness in the version for Clarinet and Guitar. Jan Freidlin's "Flowers without Frames" for String Quartet

Jan Freidlin's six movement work for string quartet "Flowers without Frame" was released. The each movement of this work is inspired by a painting of flowers by an impressionist painter. The six movements are

1. Sunflowers by Van Gogh
2.Roses by Manet
3. Lilacs by Vrubel
4. Waterlilies by Monet
5. Chrysanthemums by Chagall
6. Irises by Van Gogh

This work would be extremely well-suited for museum concerts. The work is available in our string music catalog.
